I won’t pretend to be the next Takashi Amano, but I do love planted aquariums. I have set up tanks as a way of doing gardening indoors. I did it when we lived in a highrise in NYC, in Marin, and in Austin. It is a way to get a gardening fix when you can’t venture outside.

I love the creativity to devising and designing a specific ecosystem and scene, and then slowly working with the materials to shape the organic materials. There certainly are layers of systems-based thinking that are required.
